It's difficult to put a seven hour painting into a 90 second wrap, and fortunately, unlike this reel (above), my first online class filming my ‘Escape to the Ocean’ painting isn't condensed, diluted or edited to give you the highlights. It captures every moment of my attempt to bring an iconic Australian beach to life. Stepping through how to measure up, then plot the image, recognise perspective, mix the perfect colour palette and of course how to choose the right brushes to do their magic - dancing across the canvas with definite purpose. My seven hour class is a step-by-step guide where nothing is withheld. I share dozens of techniques and self taught secrets that come from nearly 30 years of teaching, painting and obsessing about the water to give you the best chance at first seeing the water as I see it, and secondly capturing it one colour at a time, layer upon layer, until a vibrant three dimentional luminous sky, wave, shallows and sand emerges from the canvas.
